Cheesy BBQ Corn-on-the-Cobb

6 ears of corn
1 stick butter, softened
1 t. chili powder
1 packet powdered cheese from boxed mac & cheese

Preheat grill for medium direct heat or preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shuck ears of corn. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, chili powder and powdered cheese. Spread butter mixture on corn and wrap each in foil. Grill, covered, for 15-20 minutes, turning every 5 minutes. Or roast potatoes in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes (do not turn if roasting).

Serves 6

Australian Cheese Cake

2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls
1 box cream cheese
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
Cinnamon & sugar mixture

In a mixing bowl, cream cheese and sugar until creamy; set aside. On greased cookie sheet, lay out first can of crescent rolls flat and press seams together. Spread with cream cheese mixture. Layer second can of crescent rolls on top. Brush with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and cut into squares.

Chocolate Chip-Peanut Butter Squares

1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 t. vanilla
1 (16.5 oz) roll Pillsbury Create n' Bake Refrigerated Chocolate
Chip Cookies


In medium bowl, mix powdered sugar, peanut butter, and vanilla until well-blended. Cut cookie dough in half. In ungreased 8 or 9-inch square pan, break up half of dough. With floured fingers, press dough evenly in bottom of pan. Press peanut butter mixture evenly over dough. Crumble and sprinkle half of cookie dough over peanut butter mixture. Carefully spread as evenly as possible. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and firm to the touch. Cool for 30 minutes. Chill for an hour. For bars, cut into four by three rows. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Corn & Cream Cheese

2 cans whole kernel corn, drained
1-2 T.butter
1 (3 oz) pkg. cream cheese
Jalapenos, optional
Salt & pepper to taste

In saucepan, melt butter. Add corn, cream cheese, and jalapenos (or the jalapeno juice if in a jar). Heat on low until cream cheee melts.

Cream of Broccoli & Cauliflower Soup

2 (10 oz each) pkg. frozen chopped broccoli
1 (10 oz) pkg. frozen cauliflower
2 c. chicken broth
1 c. half & half
Salt & pepper to taste
2 c. Swiss cheese, shredded

In a 4-quart stockpot, cook the broccoli and cauliflower in the chicken broth until tender (about 15 minutes); let cool. Puree in blender, leaving the soup a little chunky. Return the soup to the stockpot. Add the half & half, salt and pepper to taste. Let cool and chill until ready to serve. The next day, reheat the soup over very low heat for about 45 minutes. Just before serving, stir in the Swiss cheese.

Cranberry Chicken


4 lbs chicken pieces* (3 breast, 3 thighs, 3
drumsticks)

1 (1 oz) envelope dry onion soup mix
1 (16 oz) can whole-berry cranberry sauce
1 c. spicy-sweet French dressing (Kraft's Catalina)
Rinse chicken with cold water; pat dry. Place chicken in a single layer in a lightly greased 13 X 9" baking dish. Sprinkle soup mix evenly over chicken. Stir cranberry sauce, and spoon over chicken; top evenly with dressing. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes; remove foil, reduce temperature to 350 degrees, and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
* Instead of chicken pieces you can substitute chicken breasts instead.

Peanut Kisses

50 Hershey's Kisses, unwrapped
1 c. sugar
1 c. Karo syrup
2 c. crunchy peanut butter
4 c. Special K cereal

Boil sugar and Karo syrup. Remove from heat and add peanut butter; mix well. Stir in cereal. Spoon out onto wax paper. Top with Kisses. The Kisses will melt and form the icing.

Sausage Balls


3 c. Bisquick
1 pkg. Owens hot sausage, room temperature
1 pkg. Owens regular sausage, room temperature
3 c. cheddar cheese, shredded

Mix Bisquick and cheese in a (very) large bowl until well-blended. Work in the sausage (with your hands) until the mixture is well-blended. After blended, form into small/medium-sized balls and place on well greased cookie sheet (these do not rise). Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes until golden brown. These freeze beautifully.

Yields 2 cookie sheets
